چکیده

The study of the possibility of existence of the non-propagating, trapped continental shelf waves (CSWs) along curved coasts reduces mathematically to a spectral problem for a selfadjoint operator pencil in a curved strip. Using the methods developed in the setting of the waveguide trapped mode problem, we show that such CSWs exist for a wide class of coast curvature and depth profiles.

Asymptotic behaviour of the spectrum of a waveguide with distant perturbations

We consider the waveguide modelled by a n-dimensional infinite tube. The operator we study is the Dirichlet Laplacian perturbed by two distant perturbations. The perturbations are described by arbitrary abstract operators ”localized” in a certain sense, and the distance between their ”supports” tends to infinity. We study the asymptotic behaviour of the discrete spectrum of such system. The mai...

Asymptotic behaviour of the spectrum of a waveguide with distant perturbation

We consider the waveguide modelled by n-dimensional tube in which Dirichlet Laplacian is considered perturbed by two distant perturbations. We study the asymptotic behaviour of the discrete spectrum of such problem. The main resu...

An Experimental Investigation into the Effect of Curve Radius on the Discharge Coefficient in Curved-Linear and Curved-Labyrinth Weirs with a Triangular Plan

Nonlinear weirs are regarded as important hydraulic structures for water level adjustment and flow control in channels, rivers and dam reservoirs. One example of non-linear weirs is shaped as curved-zigzag. The crest axis of these weirs is non-linear. At a given width, the crest length is greater than that of the conventional linear weirs. Thus, they achieve a higher flow rate for an identical ...

Local Orthogonal Mappings and Operator Formulation for Varying Cross-sectional Ducts

A method is developed for solving the two dimensional Helmholtz equation in a duct with varying cross-section region bounded by a curved top and flat bottom, having one region inside. To compute the propagation of sound waves in a curved duct with a curved internal interface is difficult problem. One method is to transform the wave equation into a solvable form and making the curved interface p...

On Generalization of Sturm-Liouville Theory for Fractional Bessel Operator

In this paper, we give the spectral theory for eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of a boundary value problem consisting of the linear fractional Bessel operator. Moreover, we show that this operator is self-adjoint, the eigenvalues of the problem are real, and the corresponding eigenfunctions are orthogonal. In this paper, we give the spectral theory for eigenvalues and eigenfunctions...
